Honybound: When the broodnest becomes filled with honey and the queen has nowhere to lay eggs.
Broodnest: The section of a beehive that the queen lays eggs and nurse bees raise brood.
Brood: Describes the population of pre-emerged bees basically baby bees
Emerged And Capped Brood: Emerged brood is once a bee pupa emerges from it's capped cell and becomes an adult bee, capped brood is what happens when a larva bee turns into a pupal bee they are capped by the nurse bees so they can develop into adult bees
A Hive Is Light: Just means they are not very heavy with winter stores.
Cut-Out: Is the process of removing a feral bee colony from some structure eg. house or barn, and putting them into a hive kept by a bee keeper
Bait Hive: Bait hives are just hives with some old dark comb in them, the comb smells nice to the bees, since bees are opportunists they will move into a suitable empty hive.
Quilt: This is the term used for the inner cover of a Warre hive, about 100mm deep with fabric on one side and open on the other the quilt is filled with dry leaves or wood shavings then placed on top of the stack of hive boxes under the outer cover or "lid". The quilt acts like a moisture wick and helps control hive humidity, it also provides a lot of insulation from exterior weather (hot and cold).
