Sam, VERY cool video. Thanks for sharing this. I had wondered exactly how you managed to lift the rest of the hive to place a box on the bottom. Nice work. Jim
My lift is a bit bulky so I am planning to redesign it in the fall (so I can take it to apiaries). There are other designs for hive lifts at warre.biobees.com/lift.htm Thanks for watching, I'm planning to video every important manipulation with my warre system, sort of like a how-to.
Yea its a lot clunkier then some of the hive lift designs I have seen, I wanted to be able to "back up" with this so I can inspect the box below so it had to be on wheels, my end of fall project is to redesign this :)
Having always been a tinkerer I thought it would be neet to build my own metal melting oven, this idea grew and evolved until several years later I found myself carving casting and finishing pieces in both silver and my favorite metal bronze.

Sam,
Great video. I liked how gentle you are with the bees, and they seem to like you back.
Also, I'd not seen such a piece of equipment before. Fascinating to watch you do this spring task.

Now you made me curious on how you made this.
I have some better pictures here moved
